About Me

I am a Psychotherapist and Counsellor
with considerable experience in working with children, young people and
families.
I trained originally as a nurse and
worked in the NHS for 30 years, the latter 17 years as a school nurse working
with children and families. At the same time I began
training as a counsellor and developed a support and counselling service for
children in schools. I was expected to liase with Social
Services, G.P.'s, Hospital Services, Child and Adolescent Mental Health
Services and Child Protection teams.
I then became an independent Counsellor
and Psychotherapist with a private practice and worked also as a primary
care counsellor alongside GPs as part of the Primary Health Care Team.
Along with 3 other partners, I developed and managed a Primary Care
Counselling Service, contracted by the Primary Care Trust to deliver a
counselling service to 9 GP practices.
I
have developed and run workshops for middle managers in local businesses
and education. I have also been involved in developing and running bereavement care services for
children and their families.
Along with a colleague, I run a programme providing training locally for
psychotherapists and counsellors.
I manage a developing counselling service for pupils and staff in a large
co-educational boarding school.
I am employed by a small forensic investigation team to provide counselling
and support, and I have
links with a Family Law Firm of Solicitors, providing advice and for
referrals.
